Duncanville, TX – On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, both Dallas County and the State of Texas issued Disaster Declarations in the aftermath of the prior day’s storm event that caused flooding and property damage. Neither declaration is a guarantee of funding to those impacted. The State, however, is in the process of compiling data on all damage that occurred as a result of the storm to determine if the loss threshold level meets the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) requirements for Federal Assistance. FEMA must first declare a disaster before funds can be made available to impacted residents.

Damages can be submitted to the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) using the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) Damage Surveys found at:

All affected residents are encouraged to report damages from Monday’s flood event using the State’s iSTAT survey. Submitting damages through the survey does not guarantee funding or repair assistance; it is simply adding each damage claim to the State’s total to see if the loss threshold is reached.

It is recommended that damage be reported to the property owner’s insurance company.
