NOTICE OF MEETING TO VOTE ON TAX RATE
August 31 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
A tax rate of $0.700000 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of City of Duncanville.

The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2021 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for City of Duncanville from the same properties in both the 2020 tax year and the 2021 tax year.
The voter-approval rate is the highest tax rate that City of Duncanville may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate.
The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that City of Duncanville is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2021 tax year.
A PUBLIC MEETING TO VOTE ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WILL BE HELD ON August 31, 2021 AT 06:00 PM AT Council Chambers, City Hall, 203 E. Wheatland Rd, Duncanville, TX 75116.
The proposed tax rate is not greater than the voter-approval tax rate. As a result, City of Duncanville is not required to hold an election at which voters may accept or reject the proposed tax rate. However, you may express your support for or opposition to the proposed tax rate by contacting the members of the City Council of City of Duncanville at their offices or by attending the public hearing mentioned above.
SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE OF MEETING BY VIDEO CONFERENCE
In accordance with an Order of the Office of the Governor issued on March 16, 2020, as extended, the City Council for the City of Duncanville, Texas will conduct a City Council Special Meeting in person and by video conference at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in order to advance the public health goal of limiting face-to-face meetings (also called “social distancing”) in an effort to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This is an open meeting conducted by in person and video conference.
Due to limited seating in the council chambers, persons or participants may attend by video conference in order to maintain safe social distance as provided in this notice.
To speak during Citizen Comments, you must register with the City Secretary before 4pm on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, email firstname.lastname@example.org and title the email “Public Comment – TAX RATE – August 31, 2021”. You will need to register with the link below and attend the meeting. During the Citizen Comments period of the agenda, the City Secretary will call your name and allow access to your camera and microphone for you to provide your comments. Feel free to email your comment to the City Secretary for the Mayor to read into the record for any unexpected technological issues that may arise.

The 86th Texas Legislature modified the manner in which the voter-approval tax rate is calculated to limit the rate of growth of property taxes in the state.
