The City of Duncanville held its first Traffic Signal Box (TSB) Art Unveiling Event on Friday,  June 28, 2019, located in Downtown Duncanville. Mr. Jose Perales’ patriotic themed artwork was selected for the TSB located next to the war memorial on the corner of Center Street and Santa Fe Trail. Mr. Perales, his family, City Council Members, City Staff, and friends of the community were present to celebrate this exciting unveiling.

In 2017, the City of Duncanville adopted its first Comprehensive Plan.  Throughout the development of the plan, citizens requested to have more culture and public art throughout the Duncanville community to help enhance the City’s identity and character. During City Council’s 2018 Strategic Planning Session, the City Council approved the Traffic Signal Box Art Program. The initial call was for Duncanville artists participation, but then later was extended to include non-residents as well.  This art initiative is a public-private partnership with the City of Duncanville and the Duncanville Design Studio committee. Three additional art unveilings will take place over the next few weeks and the final one will take place when school starts; as the artist is a Duncanville student.
