Personnel See available job opportunities with the City of Duncanville The City of Duncanville Personnel Services Department provides services to all City departments in the areas of recruitment, employee orientation, payroll, records maintenance, benefits monitoring, job classifications and information dissemination. In addition, this department is responsible for various employee programs that include workers compensation, group health, dental and life insurance, retirement, unemployment compensation and employee training. In the year 2000 the department received 1,800 applications for employment, 38 percent of which were from minority and/or female applicants. The City employed 249 full-time employees (budgeted) and maintained a low turnover rate of approximately 10 percent.
The program offers municipal employees the opportunity to work toward completing four Certification programs. The certifications include customer service, leadership, supervision, and continuing education. Employees, managers and supervisors are able to obtain specific training needed to improve their skills and overall performance, as well as improve their opportunities for job advancement. The training program, known as the Academy, has granted the City of Duncanville the autonomy to tailor training to the needs of employees to strengthen city services. Under the Regional Training program, which has an average cost of $65 per eight-hour class, the City of Duncanville has saved approximately 59% per employee class of training and education. Thirty-five courses have been developed since the programs inception in October 1999.
