Due to budget constraints, the Duncanville Recreation Center, located at 201 James Collins Blvd., will be closed on Sundays beginning July 18.

Recreation Superintendent Amy Stirman said that great consideration was taken to lessen the impact to the facility’s patrons.

“Closing on Sundays was a good way to decrease operating costs without greatly affecting Recreation Center patrons. Historically, there is low attendance or usage of the facility on Sundays,” said Stirman. “Although, we are closing one day a week, the Parks and Recreation Department staff is committed to providing quality service and programs to the community.”

She added that the Recreation Center’s new hours of operation are as follows:

Monday—Friday 6:30a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sunday Closed

Numerous fitness and enrichment programs for children and adults are offered at the Duncanville Recreation Center including CPR training, ZUMBA, yoga, self-defense training, karate, dance and cheer, ballet, fencing, guitar, scrapbooking, swing out dancing and more.
