DEFINITIONS
- An occasional sale garage sale
or patio sale is a sale of tangible personal property
by a person not engaged in the business of selling such
personal property.
- The sale can only be held on the premises of the owner
or the lessee of the property where the sale is conducted,
in residential areas.
- The person must be the legal owner of at least a portion
of the property where the sale is held.
- New merchandise or merchandise acquired solely for the
purpose of resale is not allowed.
- Four such sales may be held during each calendar year:
two sales during the first six months (January 1 through
June 30) and two during the second six months (July 1
through December 31) each year.
- Each sale cannot exceed four consecutive days.
- Each sale requires a permit. There is NO FEE required
for holding an occasional sale.
- Every sign advertising a sale must show on its face
in the top right corner, the permit number.
ALL SIGNS MUST BE REMOVED
WHEN THE PERMIT EXPIRES.
- Signs may not be placed anywhere except on your own
property or on someone else's property with their permission.
Signs must be placed a minimum of 11 1/2 feet into the yard
from the back of the curb.
- Signs are not allowed to exceed four (4) square feet
in area.
- Permits are available by e-mail or at the Building Inspection
Office at Duncanville City Hall, 203 East Wheatland Road,
between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

HANDLED IN PERSON AT CITY HALL.

SALES FOR EACH SIX MONTH PERIOD
IN THE CALENDAR YEAR ARE ALLOWED.
GARAGE SALE SIGNS
In an effort to keep your city clean, garage sale signs
are not allowed to be placed along any city street, in the
medians, on any utility poles or fences.
You may put them in your own yard, or in a neighbor's yard,
with their permission. Signs must be placed a minimum of
11 feet into the yard from the back of the curb.
All signs advertising a garage sale must be removed after
the sale is over.
Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00
PM.
Please allow 2 days for
processing. Any applications received after Thursday, cannot
be processed for a garage sale the following weekend.
