GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING EMPLOYMENT AS
FIREFIGHTER

QUALIFIED APPLICANT

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and shall not have reached their 36th birthday.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
  • Must be certified as a firefighter by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection OR be certified as a paramedic by the Texas Department of Health.
  • Must have a valid class A or B Texas driver's license with an excellent driving record.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be a non-tobacco user.
  • Height and weight in proportion.

  • Interviews with Peer Board and Chief
  • Physical Ability Test
  • Physical Examination by Physician

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION

A thorough background investigation is conducted on all eligible applicants.
Any misrepresentation or omission in the application or other forms will be grounds for rejection or dismissal.

  • $ 43,666 1 Year
  • $ 45,194 2 Years
  • $ 46,775 3 Years
  • $ 48,413 4 Years
  • $ 50,107 5 Years
  • $ 53,257 6 Years

    (Firefighters assigned to paramedic duties receive additional paramedic certificate pay.)

HOURS

  • Normal duty is 24 hours on 48 off.
