GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING EMPLOYMENT AS
FIREFIGHTER
QUALIFIED APPLICANT
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and shall not have reached their
36th birthday.
- Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
- Must be certified as a firefighter by the Texas Commission on Fire
Protection OR be certified as a paramedic by the Texas Department of
Health.
- Must have a valid class A or B Texas driver's license with an excellent
driving record.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be a non-tobacco user.
- Height and weight in proportion.
EMPLOYMENT PROCEDURES
- Application Form
- Polygraph and Psychological Test
- Civil Service Exam (scheduled on an as need basis)
- Interviews with Peer Board and Chief
- Physical Ability Test
- Physical Examination by Physician
- Thorough and Extensive Background Investigation

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
A thorough background investigation is conducted on all eligible applicants.
Any misrepresentation or omission in the application or other forms will
be grounds for rejection or dismissal.

HOURS
- Normal duty is 24 hours on 48 off.
