The Duncanville Fire Department is responsible for the
emergency management operations in case of a natural or
man-made disaster. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
is located in the administrative offices of the fire department.
Inside the operations center you will find radios that
allow contact with ham operator weather spotters to allow
for first hand information. Radar screens from both the
National Weather Service and cable television and Data Transmission
Network weather radar computers are available to interpret
storm patterns and to receive weather alerts.
The EOC also is equipped with radios in order to maintain
contact with City of Duncanville employees trained in weather
recognition and storm spotting.
The EOC is also the Community Alert Warning System activation
center. The Community Alert Warning System in Duncanville
is capable of emitting tones as well as voice messages in
order to warn the citizens of severe weather or other emergency
situations.
The Community Alert Warning System is tested on the first
Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM. Testing will not be
performed during the threat of severe weather.
