PET OWNERS CAUTIONED TO PROTECT PETS
Duncanville , Texas — Some pet owners in Duncanville have reported missing or killed animals specifically cats. Duncanville authorities suspect that coyotes, a wolf-like wild dog, are to blame.
Coyotes in urban areas are not uncommon and their numbers have been on the rise. Cities as large as Chicago , Ill. (population nine million) have an estimated 2,000 coyotes in the city.
Coyotes tend to roam at night and are adept at bypassing traps. Although it has not been officially determined if coyotes are killing pets, there are precautions that pet owners can take to keep their animals safe. Duncanville officials encourage residents to be aware of the potential threat, keep pets from wandering at night and not leave food for pets outside overnight.
If Duncanville residents have questions or concerns, they can contact Animal Control at (972) 223-6111.
