Assistant Public Works Director

The Public Works Department includes Engineering, Planning & Zoning, Building Inspection, Streets, Signs & Signals, Garage, Water and Wastewater.

This position provides administrative and technical support for the daily activities of the Public Works Department. This is accomplished by meeting with developers, reviewing zoning, platting and infrastructure requirements, administering the capital improvement plan, preparing information for planning and zoning activities including attending P&Z meetings, reviewing development plans, preparing budgets and identifying public improvements. Other duties include supervising personnel, reviewing engineering proposals and submitting grant applications.

Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, maintain a Texas Professional Engineer license and have five years experience in a related field.

Custodian – Building Maintenance
$23,402 /year to start

  • High School diploma, GED equivalent,
  • Valid Texas drivers license with a good driving record,

Position requires unskilled manual labor and low-level, semi-skilled tasks. The primary duty of this position is to provide the daily cleaning of the Library / Recreation Center, Monday - Friday. Candidate must be detail oriented, self-motivating, and be able to follow oral and written directions. Duties include sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, waxing and buffing floors, cleaning carpets, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, setting up and breaking down folding tables and chairs, providing minor building maintenance, and other duties as may be assigned. Must have the ability to use common hand tools and equipment associated with building maintenance. Knowledge of cleaning equipment, such as buffer and carpet cleaning extractor is preferred, but not required. Open until filled. Open until filled.

 

Field Supervisor - Water
$44,180 /year to start

  • High School diploma, GED equivalent,
  • Class C Distribution License (State Certification)
  • Three to five years experience in a related field,
  • Valid Texas drivers license with a good driving record,
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications (includes but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to effectively supervise employees preferred

Position directs, assigns, inspects and reviews daily work operations of the Public Works Department, Utilities Division under the direction of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent. Position assists and supervises the daily responsibilities of maintaining and operating the water system; with some oversight of the wastewater system during on call duty. Prepare and place orders for supplies and materials for maintenance and operation; ability to read construction plans; inspect and review completed jobs performed by employees and contractors; evaluates employees; maintains and assigns work orders; and operates computer and related equipment. Must have the ability to perform required job tasks and operate necessary equipment and machinery. Applicant must possess good reading and writing skills, in addition to good oral communication. Applicant will be required to work an on call duty shift every three to four weeks. Open until filled. Open until filled.
