Learn About the Duncanville Police Department

The Duncanville Police Department hosts Citizen Police Academy classes twice a year. This program provides a detailed look into the inner workings of the Duncanville Police Department. The Citizen Police Academy was established in 1990 and has graduated more than  fifty five classes.

In addition to the Citizen Police Academy, Duncanville has also hosted Senior Citizen Police Academies that are geared to the interests of the Senior Citizens of Duncanville.

Topics covered in the Citizen Police Academy include: Texas Penal Code, Criminal and Civil Liability, Patrol Techniques, Accident Investigations, Family Violence Investigations, Gang and Youth Activity, Narcotics Investigations and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit.

To attend the Duncanville Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy attendees must live or work in Duncanville and be willing to commit to three hours, one night a week for twelve weeks. In addition, attendees must apply and pass a background check and a review Board.
