TRASH AND DEBRIS
The keeping or depositing of junk, trash or debris upon
premises for a continuous period of twenty-four (24) hours
or more is prohibited.
GARBAGE PICKUP
All garbage and household trash containers shall be placed
at curbside on the street or at a location in the alley.
Each customer shall provide and use approved containers
sufficient in number to hold the garbage and trash normally
accumulated. Garage and trash shall be placed at the prescribed
location no later than 7:00 AM on the day of scheduled collection.
Containers shall not be placed out prior to the day of scheduled
collection.
ILLEGAL DUMPING
It shall be unlawful for any person to sweep, throw or deposit
any garbage, trash, or grass clippings into, upon or along
any gutter, alley, sidewalk, street, creek or storm sewer
inlet, or upon any public or private premises within the
city.
OUTSIDE STORAGE
No outside storage of items not customarily stored outside
is allowed for a continuous period of twenty-four (24) hours
or more. Examples of items that would be allowed to be stored
outside are operable motor vehicles, ornamental structures,
lawn furniture, boat and camper trailers and barbecue grills.
HIGH GRASS
Grass, weeds, brush or unsightly vegetation growing in excess
of twelve (12) inches in height is prohibited. If a property
owner fails to mow the grass a municipal court citation
may be issued and a mowing contractor will be hired to clear
the property and a mowing lien may be assessed against the
property. Property owners are given only one written notice
every twelve (12) months.
TREES AND SHRUBS
The minimum overhang of trees shall be seven (7) feet above
sidewalks and fourteen (14) feet above streets and alleys.
Growth encroachments in alleys shall not exceed one (1)
foot. No plant life shall be allowed to be detrimental or
dangerous to those owners on adjoining premises.
RESIDENTIAL PARKING
An owner of a property may not drive, leave, stand, park
or allow to be parked any vehicle on an unimproved surface
in a front yard or side yard on any residential property.
PARKING OF CAMPER TRAILERS OR BOATS TRAILERS
A camper trailer or boat trailer may be parked in the front
yard when parked on an approved surface, as determined by
the Building Official. No trailers other than camper trailers
or boat trailers are permitted in a front yard.
JUNKED VEHICLES
A junked vehicle is a motor vehicle, which is inoperable,
within public view, wrecked, or partially dismantled and
has an expired registration or inspection sticker. A written
notice to repair or remove the vehicle within 10 days is
issued. Failure to comply may result in the removal of the
vehicle by the city or the issuance of a municipal court
citation.
TRUCK TRACTORS, TRAILERS AND BUSES
No truck tractor, trailer, bus or vehicle having a rated
capacity in excess of one and one-half (1 ½) tons
shall be kept on residential property, including driveways,
for other than the supervised loading or unloading of goods
or passengers.
SUBSTANDARD BUILDINGS
A building or a portion thereof in which there exists any
condition that endangers the life, limb, health, property,
safety or welfare of the public or the occupants thereof.
ACCESSORY BUILDINGS
An accessory building is a subordinate building or structure,
attached to or detached from the main building. A permit
is required for all accessory buildings, however no permit
fee is charged for buildings of less than one hundred twenty
(120) square feet in area. There can not be more than two
(2) accessory buildings per property. Setbacks vary according
to type of building.
POSTED ADDRESSES
House numbers shall be displayed in a conspicuous place.
The number shall be three (3) inches in height, made of
a durable material and shall be of a color contrasting to
its background. Houses with rear entries shall be required
to display house numbers at both the front and rear of the
premises.
FENCES
A permit is required for a new fence or if over fifty per
cent (50%) of a fence is repaired or replaced. A fence must
not lean or have any broken, damaged or missing parts.
GRAFFITI
An owner of private property that fails to remove graffiti
applied to property under his control shall receive written
notice served by the City to remove the graffiti from the
property within seven (7) calendar days.
SWIMMING POOLS
Any private pool or spa located within the city shall be
maintained in a manner that allows for water clarity and
proper fencing.
GARAGE SALES
Sales shall not exceed two (2) in number during any six
(6) month period, and the duration of each such sale shall
not exceed four (4) consecutive calendar days. A permit

SIGNS
Garage sale signs, political signs and real estate signs
are the only types of signs allowed in residential neighborhood.
CUSTOMARY HOME OCCUPATIONS
Customary home occupations are home based businesses carried
on by a member of the occupants family without structural
alterations in the building or any of its rooms, without
the installation of machinery other than that customary
to normal household operations, without the employment of
additional persons, without the use of a sign to advertise
the occupation and which does not generate additional traffic.
APARTMENT INSPECTION PROGRAM
Each year code enforcement inspects each apartment complex
in the city in an effort to maximize the safety and comfort
of the occupants and to assure that the property is maintained
in a manner that promotes the integrity of the neighborhood.

Complaints may be reported by calling 972-780-5040. Report
the address of the violation and a brief description of
the violation. All reports are confidential. The name and
phone number of the complainant is not required unless reply
is requested.
